This instructional site aims to serve the metal and rock guitarist. You can expect to find a collection of informative and instructional articles aimed around the guitar and world of the metal musician. Not only will you find free lessons, but also free articles explaining everything from maintaining your instrument to learning about tube amps. Aside from my blog, also featured on this site is my webseries, Riffology, a ‘how-to’ on heavy metal riffing! This website will also feature my own method book, which is currently in development.

About the Author
I have been playing guitar since 1997 and I am influenced by guitarists Michael Romeo, Joe Satriani, John Schaffer, James Hetfield, Yngwie Malmsteen, Henrik Danhage, Tom Englund, and Thomas Youngblood. I was also a student of shred guitar legend Terry Syrek for a brief amount of time back in 2002-2003.
I have been a leading instructor in the northern New Jersey area since I opened the Dan Sorber School of Guitar in 2004 where I have since helped many of my students become the guitarist they always dreamed of. I custom tailor each lesson to each student in order to help them achieve their goals and help them become the guitar player THEY want to become. I teach all rock based styles (blues, rock, metal, pop,) and can also teach students how to read standard notation. My specialty however, is all metal based styles. Whether it be: thrash, speed, neoclassical, power, symphonic, shred or just good ole’ heavy metal. If you are interested in learning more about taking private lessons with me, please Contact me or give me a call: 862.377.9391.
I play guitar, compose, write lyrics, and manage for the band Ferox Canorus. We are currently recording our debut EP, which should be completed in the spring.
I am also actively involved in developing many instructional products, many of which will be available by year’s end.
Aside from music I enjoy reading, computers (I designed this site!), kung fu, zen philosophy and spending time with my wife and two children.
